The same page works fine in IE7.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It seems you've stumbled upon a known bug in IE8 which occurs with some ASP.NET controls one of which is ASP.NET menu control

It was said that this was fixed in the latest release of IE8, have first thing I'd do is check if you got the latest release or you're still using a beta version ?

There is a temporary fix to get around this and make IE8 behave like IE7 but this is not recommended as it might cause some other issues, but you could try it though

<!-- Use IE7 mode -->
  <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />
  <title>My Web Page</title>
If this was related to the ASP.NET menu control I'd check this http://forums.asp.net/t/1229762.aspx
Near the end of the page there is a script that detects the menu control support

Hope this helps
