Use Biometric fingerprint reader in windows 7

hi there,

I've purchased a few HP ProBook 6440b laptops which I want the users logging in using the finderprint reader using with Windows 7 built in biometrics software, not HP's protec Tools software.

When I go into Device Manager, the fingerprint reader is detected under biometric devices but when I go into control panel Biometric devices is not listed to register the fingerprints.

Can someone advise how I can get fingerprint login enabled on this laptop?

Try to reinstall the fingerprint driver for this notebook type.
The driver has 63 MB so i assume there should be included the firmware for control panel...

Nope, didn't work.

The fingerprint reader is from validity.
From what?
is there a bios settings which enabled it?

The manufacturer is called Validity.

Enabled in BIOS, as I said in original post it appears in device manager and functioning correctly.
ok
Isn't there a HP Fingerprint tool installed with the driver?

yes, but it's a big lump of junk.

All other laptops I've rolled out use the Windows 7 biometrics utility, much easier for end users to use.
Hit the start button, then on the image for the user that is logged in, right click you should see options there.

When I right click on the user image from start meni no options are displayed.
have you tried another driver?

What other drivers is there except for the one on the HP website?

That's how mine shows up also, but nothing appears in control panel to setup fingerprint login.

My other laptops show Biometrics in control panel.
Have installed the Digital persona or just the driver? - you will need both for the device to support Windows 7 logon framework I think http://www.validityinc.com/post.aspx?id=142
Will have to check on the Laptop from home later today.
