Where is the OLE object now?

How many pages does the OLE object contain?

you could try putting the ole in your Page Header.

Or... in a group header. When inserting the group, make sure that you check the box for Repeat Group Header.

I tried to put the OLE Object in page header but not works too. The report does not contains data to set up a group. The Word document (OLE Object) contains 4 pages, or 5, sometimes 6 or 3.

if you have any kind of data in the report you can set up a group. Might be worth a shot. You can make a "fake" group by doing something like this:

Create formula Group GT
contains:

IF isnull( {somefield} ) then 'Overall' else 'Overall'

This will group all data into a single group.

Insert group on this, and check the box "Repeat Group Header on Each Page" under Options tab on the Group Insert.

The option "Group Expert" is disabled.

I think you might be in the wrong spot. Group Expert is a different feature.

This Option is available upon creating the new Group -
1) choose field to group on
2) click on the option tab - check the box.
3) click OK.

Sorry! May you say step-to-step (menu option) to how create a group?
0
LinInDenverCommented:
Sure
INSERT menu
GROUP...   (this pops up a little window)
COMMON Tab - select your 'Overall' formula field.
OPTIONS Tab - check box to repeat group header on each page
click OK button

Owl... this option is disabled too.

well that's not good! sorry I'm not sure how to make this thing work.

you could try something like a sub report.... insert sub report into report header or page header, and place your OLE object in the sub report.

I tried to do it with subreport too but not works.

Ok LinInDenver: Thanks very much about these considerations.

You are welcome!

if you are able to post your report here with data saved, I can try to play with it a little more (as can others on EE)

I believe the direction you are taking with this will not lead to success because the OLE object is multi-page.

A better approach is to use one of the 3rd-party Crystal report schedulers listed at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html. It can embed Crystal report content in a MS Word document template and save the resulting document into a new dynamically named Word document (and optionally email that document to a dynamic recipient.

Thanks Paul!

I have another thought. The perk of OLE objects seems to be that you can double click on it in the viewer to expand and see full detail.

If the text of your OLE object never changes, I would actually recommend creating a Text field (Insert | Text) and pasting the contents of the word document into the text document.

The text need to be edited before (on MS Word), during the application is running (to merge some data) and after (MS Word).

Ah too bad. I hope IdoMillet's idea will work then! Good luck Paul.

Agree qwith Ido.  The Crystal OLE object can only show the first page.  You will need another approach to get at the remainder of the document.

An option is to get the word document saved as an rtf file, and pick this up using the file system datasource, the contents of the file can then  be treated as an RTF field and may well display properly.

This is a completely different approach to your current one, and the rtf interpretation of crystal is limited, so it may not show exactly as per the word document.
