Cannot uninstall Java 6 update 19.

After installing Java RE 6 Update 19, we discovered the client needed to run Java 6 update 7 for scanning online. When going into add remove programs to remove it does not show in the list. Also downloaded the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility and ran, but Java 6u19 does not show there either. When opening the Java control panel it says the version installed in 6u19, as well as when going to Java's website.

I tried to reinstalled 6u19 to see if it would show up in the add/remove list but when it asks to reinstall the software you click yes, it goes to remove the previous version, but because it's not listed in add/remove it says this operation can only be completed if the product is installed. I researched different ways to uninstall manually but could not find any.

Does anyone have any help?

Thanks...

OK - where does it still say 6u19?

I think you can just delete C:\Program Files\Java
and try to install the required version then.

Note: some can not UNINSTALL JAVA but this is unique.
It must be a registry matter; take care.

sciuriware is probably right but there are also some registry values that can be coming into the way...
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/regkey_addremove.xml might give you a clue what needs cleaning.

But I still will need some more info where you still see it.

Probably been improperly uninstalled

You might find if you delete registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\<version number>

you can then reinstall it, prior to removing it properly

PS: and technically you should be able to have both versions together and just to enable the proper one in the browser...
