IP COP Static Routes

Hi There

I have added static routes to my ipcop firewall in the rc.local file.

For some reason the routes  dissapear after a while until the firewall is restarted , then they are there for a while(time varies) and then they are lost again.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Look at the scripts invoking "route" in /etc/rc.d, perhaps you will understand which script is deleting and re-adding routes. As far as I see, only rc.red and rc.updatered are adding and deleting routes.

Do you have dynamic DHCP settings on the red NIC, or are you using dial-on-demand?

I think that static routes do not interact well with dynamic DHCP settings on red.

If your dynamic internet connection drops and comes again, the routes will not come. You may add some crontab entry to check the routes and add again if not exist.
note: you can also try to add the route directly without checking wheteher it exist or not. If it exist, route will not accept one more rule, already.

crontab -e

*/5 * * * * route add .....
