"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Movie Maker doesn't capture screens, it only makes movies of screens made another way (by camera, downloaded from the internet, etc.)  If you want to capture Windows screens, you can use the Snipping Tool.  See the article on my web page for a brief treatment of this (it's about the Windows Vista Snipping Tool, but it is unchanged in use in Windows 7):

I used something in the past called Bulent's Screen Recorder. It pretty much did what it said on the tin :) Im sure theres plenty of other apps out there which do the same but this one worked for me.

As said above the Windows Movie maker isnt able to capture screenshots etc. It can be used to capture video from a webcam or something but thats about it.

I use BB FlashBack Pro to record what is being displayed on my screen. There is a free version which I used. I do recommend it. The learning curve is short.
