Problems installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7 Pro

I'm having no luck. I've tried installing SQL Server 2008 Express on my Windows 7 Pro box about 4 times now. Each time it installs the 'setup files required' then does nothing. All I can do is click the 'New ... or Add Features...' link to try starting again but get the same results each time. Any developers experienced this before?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

before we do anything else, can you please run following command in command prompt (DOS prompt) and tell whether anything is coming as a result or not?

osql -L

'osql' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Try uninstalling any incomplete installations and try installing once..
Make sure that you

* Are logged in using Admin rights
* Copying the Installation contents from DVD to local machine and try
* Necessary pre-requisites are installed in machine like .Net Framework 3.5 sp2 and Windows installer 4.1
* Right click Setup.exe and choose Run as Administrator and try..

Thanks for your help rrjegan17. In the end the issue was caused by not using the Web Installer (even though I was using the installer files it downloads for me). For some reason I have to re-download the whole thing every time I do an install and it works fine only then.

Thanks for sharing the solution..
Then it should be because of some files captured in installer which might be causing the issue ( I hope)..
