Moving workstation and users from W2K to W2008 R2

I am moving all our PCs from an existing Windows 2000 domain to a new Windows 2008 R2 domain named the same.  Does anyone have a method for moving all the existing workstations with profiles over to the new domain without having to remove them all from old domain and then re-join them to the new domain losing all their profiles etc...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You will want to use the ADMT (Active Directory Migration Tool) for this

Why are you moving to another domain? Why not just add the 2008 server as a DC to your current domain the demote the old 2000 domain?

There are numerous problems with the Win 2000 domain so we thought it best to just let it die.  We are also replacing the servers as well.
