Roaming and Folder redirection freezing at log in

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience when using roaming profiles and folder redirection that when a user logs in they get past the welcome screen and you see the mouse that it just stays blank (black) till the screen saver turns on. Once the user logs in from the screen saver then there desktop is there.

We are using Vista Enterprise

Items being redirected are

App Data
Desktop
Documents

Yeah I have checked those things, the user profiles some are big some are not, I see this a lot with new users that have an empty profile. it seems to be random when it happens and what machines it happens on.

But its happening enough now I am trying to see what is going on. so i thought i would post and see if anyone might know if a setting is set up wrong some where that could cause this.

If the profile is too bid, definitely its going to be the cause n second reason for freeze is memory leak.

Can you run poolmon, procmon on any1 of the problem machine & try to anaylyse wots happening?

You can also scan you network for viruses/worm  & latest patches, service pack are applied on all server & machines.

Create new test user, join a new machine on the network, analyze wot happens to that machine.

It can be problem with the switch & also see nic, firmware & bios is updated on server as well as machine.

I was starting to set up test bed machines to test out the tools you recommend awinish, then I found out that many more users spoke and must of them when they log in the get a blank desktop and only a mouse then when the screen saver locks then they can get in.

I wonder if its a permissions thing.
I found out what was going on, I timed the delay and it took exactly 10 minutes before the user could log in..... that is the time set for the GPO's to time out. So we did some digging and found out where the systems were having problems receiving something with in the GPO
