Connect to Ubuntu from Win 7 on home lan and run a Ubuntu application
Hi
I work mainly on my Windows 7 laptop but I have in my house a Ubuntu machine running a favourite app called KMyMoney to do my accounts.
What is the easiest way to configure Ubuntu so that I can log in to it over my lan and run this application ?
Thank you
Philip

Hi
To alexbumbacea
Thanks for that input - I ran into some problems installing the app as it said I had to enable a printing command but then that command would not execute.
However I read on a post that this application really is an excellent, first class application and well worth downloading so if I get the chance I will try again and let you know how it goes shortly.
Thank you
Philip

Hi again
To alexbumbacea
I managed this time to download and run the three executables OK using the instructions given at
http://www.nomachine.com/download-package.php?Prod_Id=1888
followed by the commands as given
# sudo dpkg -i nxclient_3.4.0-7_i386.deb
# sudo dpkg -i nxnode_3.4.0-11_i386.deb
# sudo dpkg -i nxserver_3.4.0-12_i386.deb
which seemed to work.
Now I trawl through this document to configure it next, is this correct???

You don't need to configure anything...
Just install the client program on your windows machine... and connect to the ip with a valid username/password combination

That really works well - I have never tried that before and boom! it connects first time over my LAN without a hitch.
That's perfect - I had used VNC before but never knew it was that simple over UBUNTU as well (had used it over Windows before).
That's great help - thanks very much, you have taught me something very valuable this morning.
