Hi,

Document GPO's with a script. i found this site but not sure how to run this.
I found this link which specifies to do what i want but when script run i get the first line has error.

http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/vbscript-systems-administrator/easily-document-group-policy-objects-in-microsoft-word-using-vbscript-with-the-microsoftxmldom-and-wordapplication-objects/

Is there any supporting files i need to have?
Does it work for anyone.

Regards

Have you also looked at the built in scripts that come with GPMC

http://wmug.co.uk/blogs/1972/archive/2006/05/01/39.aspx

several there will give you reports.

I haven't tested that script you have there yet.

Thanks

Thanks but that script is to document a GPO...
Which script are you referring to? GetReportsForGPO.wsf also documents a GPO.

GetReportsForGPO.wsf
is the the save report option when right click the GPO. if yes then thats not what i need. I need a report in word format which explains what each setting does
ok understood, if I have time I'll test the script but can't right now.  You could also look at policy manager from sysprosoft

http://www.sysprosoft.com/pol_summary.shtml

...but that will only dump the settings into excel not word.

Thanks

Mike
Mike have you used this software?
Can you tell me how to get all details to excel?

ok from the screenshot the export to excel feature on one of the GPOs
I'm not saying this is perfect though.  A similar discussion about GPO reporting came up on GP MVP Darren Mar-Elia's list last month.  In the end people agreed there should be better tools and I think there are some in development.

Thanks
