Crystal Reports PDF Text Issue

Hello,

I have a CR (v11) report with a large text section. Whenever I view or export the report to PDF, the text shrinks and/or right margin increases and leaves an undesired 'gap' in that section of the report.  I am trying to compensate for the 'purple rectangle' in the attached image.  Oddly enough, when I export the same report to word, there is no distortion.

After reading several posts here on EE and installing the Generic PostScript driver on my server mentioned here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Database/Reporting_/Crystal_Reports/Q_21129806.html?sfQueryTermInfo=1+crystal+pdf+report+text I am still experiencing this issue.

Several other posts appear to have dead links regarding this issue. Any suggestions on how to correct this would be appreciated.

Have you installed the latest SPs for CR XI?

Which release do you have?
Open Crystal

I haven't  installed any SP on this server.

Help--> About Crystal shows Product Version : 11.0.0.895 - but I do not see anything regarding what 'release' i have.

How do I determine my release #?

That is release 1.

CR XI R1 is 11.0.x.xxxx
CR XI R2 is 11.5.x.xxxx

That is the original CR XI R1 release.  You might consider upghrading to R2 (should be free) or at least installing the last R1 service pack.

Ok, I installed the latest  CR XI R1 SP.   After installing I tried running my report, but did not notice any change.

Also, I tried looking for the CR XI R2 download from the link you posted above and would like to clarify which 'version' I need.  My server is a win2003 running  IIS6.0. From the download list it appears that I need to install:

Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - FP 5.8 .NET Server Install

Your input/clarification on this would most appreciated.

CR XI R2 is not an upgrade to R1 it is a completely separate product

Here is the link to the free trial

Unfortunately, there are no funds available to purchase a software upgrade at this time.

It sounds like my pdf issue has to end here unless there is another way to compensate for this issue?

Thanks,

The R2 is a free upgrade.  It is just that you have to install the full product there is no service pack to get you there.

You will end up with both releases installed on the machine.  The key code for CR XI R1 should work to install CR XI R2.
