Dell R710 NIC Teaming and Cisco 3750

We have a Dell R710 with broadcom nics  -  we currently only have the single Cisco 3750 but will eventually have a second. We for now want a bit of NIC redundancy and load balancing. What is the best way to accomplish this?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Install the Broadcom Advanced Control Suite for Nic teaming from the Dell Website
You will find the NetXtreme II Family of adaperts Driver on support.dell.com. make sure to select the correct OS first. Download the harddrive version, extract the files, run the setup from the "driver management apps installer" directory. make sure you do install BASP.
Set the 2 Nics that you want to team to DHCP
From the BACS icon on the system tray create a standard load balancing team adding the 2 nics
Go to network properties and you will now see a new adapert call Team 1, set your IP info on it and your done!

k - we've been doing it that way - but is it necessary to do an etherchannel on the switch?
