How to access your local host website from outside IP?

I have IIS and Apache installed on my local home computer. It has a wordpress install on XAMPP server on port 80 and an ASP.NET demo website on port 8080. I am one of several computers in my house.

I was wondering if I could access these websites from external IP. Say from my friends house? If so, what do I need to do to do that?

I have complete control over my computer and my network.

Thanks in advance

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I only know how to do this on a linksys router, but it might work on other, just need to know how to get to the pannel

1) go to 192.168.1.1, and enter your username (if any), and password
2) go to applications and gaming
3) enter what the port is for in the application input
4) enter 80 (or the port you're using for localhost) in both start and end inputs
5) in ip address, enter your computer's IP (you can find this by going into your network settings)
6) click save changes

Hope this helps.

You need to forward the port that your web server is running on AND know the external IP of your network.

For instructions on forwarding the port, see www.portforward.com and look up your router.

Hi, so, once I do forward the 2 ports, how would I specifically visit the sites. Would it be my externalipadress:port?

Thanks.
