Excel 2007 Windows 7 crashes
Here are my problems with Excel 2007 SP2 on Windows 7 with all updates:
1. Sometimes you go to save and Excel just closes
2. Try to open Excel and I see the Excel splash window but Excel never opens
A reboot is required to fix both problems. This happens a lot and is driving me nuts!
What I've tried:
1. Remove virus software (was ZoneAlarm Internet Security)
2. Turn off Windows Defender
3. Repair Office install
4. Uninstall/Reinstall Office
5. Microsoft Office Diag Program - tells me every time all is perfect
6. Disabled all Excel add-in's
Also get this event id 1000 / Application Error:
Faulting application name: EXCEL.EXE, version: 12.0.6524.5003, time stamp: 0x4b4fba46
Faulting module name: EXCEL.EXE, version: 12.0.6524.5003, time stamp: 0x4b4fba46

centerv, I never had multiple instances of Exel 2007 under processes when Excel is crashing. I install the Hotfix KB980210 from the links you provided and it will be a few days before I know if the problem is resolved.
If not resolved, I'll be trying wildboy85 suggestion of uninstalling KB978382.

under processes. Kill them and try again. It could be a win7 problem.
