VCenter Alerts Exclude one VM

Seems like the only way to set the alerts is on the Hosts & Clusters View. Is there a way to set different triggers and alerts for different Hosts and VMs?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What are the alerts you want to configure ?

RickEpnetAuthor Commented:
I did not know it mattered which ones. Lets say CPU Usage Alerts for Host and VMs.

You can configure individual alerts for Hosts & VMs if you do not want them to inherit a policy from the top.

How do you turn inherit off?

I believe that turning off inheritance is not possible with vCenter.
You can avoid configuring alerts at the Hosts & Clusters level to prevent policy inheritance.

Yes, I won't pretend to be an expert on this but I reached the same conclusion recently.  We had a few VM's that the default datastore alert shouldn't apply to so I disabled the default one and created a couple folders to put the machines into for alert grouping.  This at least let me create alerts at the folder level instead of the individual vm.
