Sata native support problem

i have a hp compaq laptop, and everytime when i start, it just display the compaq logo and stuck.

that time i need to go to the bios, and from system configuration menu, i used to disable the 'sata native support' option. then i quit using 'save and exit' option.

but next time when i start my laptop, it just stuck at the same place, and i had to do the above process.

can anyone help? and also why the option changed after save.

I'm using windows XP.

My first guess would be that the CMOS battery is dead so it is not retaining the settings. On some HP Copaq models you can access the battery by removing the memory cover.
It is absolutely the battery.  Cracking a laptop open and getting to the battery can be a pain sometimes, goto support.hp.com and find the support manual for your laptop.   Most of the time is is just basically impossible to properly open and put back together w/o the manual.
Also very low possibility did you try to update your bios ?

update your bios if doesn't work like other people said battery because bios keeps forgetting the configuration.
