Simple question..does the Ipad support flash or not..???

I have heard and read several reviews saying that you can watch Youtube video on Ipad, however other reviews say it doesn't support Flash..since YouTube video is mainly flash content I am confused :-)

I pad does not support Flash.  Apple's stated reasons for not including Flash support are based on the memory requirements and interoperability issues with Flash which might lead to the iPhone or iPad crashing more often.

Here is an article about Adobe and Apple.

Simple answer, NO.  At least for now.  You see, as of right night Apple have no threat in the tablet market, so it can lock down the iPad as it please.  Just like iPhone, Apple didn't need to have the iPhone open up at the beginning when it launched.  But as smart phone market become tougher as Android start to enter, Apple didn't have a choice but to open up the device.  So, when there start to be Android tablet that support flash appear on the market, Apple may change its mind.

Ok, so the only way to watch YouTube video on an IPad at the moment would be to download it, if available, in MP4 format?

I'm told there is a HD App that plays some video?

Similarly, it would be useless in the UK for watching BBCs iPlayer .. which is in flv format.

I'm asking cos as I 'fix' computers I'm getting a lot of Brits asking me about this following a lot of media disinformation following the Ipads US launch..

There is NO flash support for Safari web browser on the iPad .. same as the iPhone .. however that does NOT mean you cannot see YouTube or iPlayer in the UK.The iPad should have the same YouTube Application as the iPhone so you can watch YouTube from within the APP but not in Safari. As for BBC iPlayer for iPhone / iPadhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7283702.stm

Right, so the APP supports Flash?

The YouTube App for the iPhone/iPad allows you to view YouTube videos .. so it must have a FLV player of some type embedded in the Application however it does not allow you to view Flash on any other websites so it is not a full implementation of a Flash Player.
