We have a 2003 SharePoint site to be used as a document uploading area for many contributors under a single login. I am trying to find out if it is possible to supress the ability to view files in SharePoint:
For this site, Contributors are not supposed to be allowed to view any uploaded files. I thought the problem was solved by implementing document approval, but it is still posisible to view the files under the Contributor login. When the Add items permission is selected in the Edit Site Group "Contributor" screen, the permission to View Items and to View Pages are both auto-selected. Is there a way to setup the site to allow the Contributor group permission to add items only?
I've been able to strip out most everything (including the vertical Quick Links menu - see the attached file) from the login home page & if the only option available was to upload a document, this might still work, but the option to add a new document appears inside a General Documents web part. If one clicks on General Documents, a new vertical menu opens allowing a View selection & Actions selections. Beyond that, there is the top link bar that offers options that we do not want available to the contributor login.
