how to disable snmp or secure snmp community name

Hi All,

The SNMP default Public community name is specified, allowing anyone the ability to receive responses to queries from the system if they use this default value.

An attacker can use SNMP to obtain valuable information about the system

Disable or remove the SNMP Service if it is not required. If your systems require SNMP, take steps to secure the SNMP community names.

To disable or remove the SNMP Service:

My question how to disable snmp or secured snmp step by step

Thanks

Hi,
disable snmp on AIX this way -
"smitty snmpd" -> "Stop Using the snmpd Subsystem" -> "BOTH" -> Go!
This will stop the snmp daemon and will also modify /etc/rc.tcpip so that snmpd wil no longer be started at reboot.
