The SNMP service enables remote system management.

The SNMP SysDescr variable can be returned from a remote system. The SNMP SysDescr may contain sensitive information that can be used by an attacker to launch further attacks against the affected system.

Limit the SysDescr variable access.

Hi,
- either disable snmp as a whole, as I described in your other snmp related case,
OR
- modify the community name in /etc/snmpdv3.conf.
The default entry looks like this -
COMMUNITY public    public     noAuthNoPriv 0.0.0.0     0.0.0.0         -
Modify both occurrences of the default name "public" to some arbitrary, not easily guessable string, and issue
refresh -s snmpd
Please check beforehand if you have some snmp-based monitoring application running. This  application must be made aware of the change!
