Hi Experts,

I need to develop a NEW System similar to ERP ( Enterprise Resource Planning),

Which Programming Language / Technology / Tools I should use to create this New system,

Programming Language / Technology / Tools should easily communicate with the different databases such as ORACLE, MS SQL SERVER, SYBASE etc, It should be Database Independent,

How should I proceed ahead with this, If possible please provide step by step procedure.

Thanks & Regards

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Very difficult question to answer fully within an EE question but here are a few pointers.

When choosing a development platform and programming language consider which platforms you are targeting, if it will be Windows your choice will be different than if you're targeting Linux or Mac. If you're targeting Windows then Visual Studio.Net will be a good choice. If you want to target all platforms consider Java.

In terms of programming language it's important to consider what your develoepr base is. In other words choose a development environment that's well supports and for which there are plenty of developers about.

Most development environments are database independent these days so that probably won;t be a huge factor but worth considering.

PS. Also consider whether you are going to go with Client/Server of online app architecture.

Not so complex.

Buy an as/400 iSeries and developen in any language you like
if it must be lightning-fast, use RPG and SQL communication with every system or DB is guaranteed.
the bottleneck in communication is always the speed (or beter non-speed) of the remote DB.
100% controll about all processes

And...... MTBF is very long

Save and reliabel!!!

Good luck

What is as/400 iSeries ???
HTML5 and CSS3 Fundamentals

Build a website from the ground up by first learning the fundamentals of HTML5 and CSS3, the two popular programming languages used to present content online. HTML deals with fonts, colors, graphics, and hyperlinks, while CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed.

The Fastest Server you can buy (and highly reliable)

BTW the DB on that platform is UDB.DB2...
Also the most flexible solution.
Or you could download the open sourced ERP, Compiere, and start with that.

It used to utilize JBoss, Java, and Oracle database heavily.
