License Site Settings in AD Sites and Services

Hi,

Please can someone help.
We have recently upgraded our domain from Windows 2000 to Windows 2008 (new DCs) The old ones are turned off.

We are getting licensing errors whilst attempting to log citrix clients onto a session. (Metaframe XP)

On checking the setup in AD it appears under Licesing Site Settings > Licensing computer >

This refers to our old DC that no longer exists.
Should this be changed to one of our Windows 2008 DC's?  Do we need some sort of Terminal Service service installing? Not sure how to resolve the issues with allowing citrix sessions again

Thanks

You probably need to install a terminal server licensing server and reinstall the licenses onto it, it does not have to be a on a DC.

If you can reinstate the old license server do so and just run it as a license server.

What would I have to do to get this working on a Windows 2008 DC? As the old 2000 DC is legacy Im not sure I have the correct licenses to hand.

Unfortunately the old server is no longer around.
Thanks

Oh and as far as lics go, it is relevant to your citrix server rather than what the license server is installed on I think. So if your citrix server has not changed then you should be ok.

I think the only reason our citrix connections is not working is because the terminal server licensing service is held on our old 2000 DC. As this no longer exists, if we install the ts licensing service on the Win 2008 DC, will the citrix server recognise this as the new license server or will there need to be some configuration?

please assist, thankyou

If you install the licensing service on the 2008 server you should then go to the "terminal services configuration manager" change the setting there that points to the license server.
Depending on how you setup the terminal services licensing on the DC it may be detected automatically by the Citrix servers.
