Html validation

Hello experts.
I'm trying to validate my html code now with dreamweaver.I have many errors but i will begin with this one:
The tag: "link" has an XML style closing syntax for an empty element even though version: "HTML20" is not an XML tag language.[HTML 4.0]

here is the code:
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="resources/rounded.css"/>

This is the code type:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

(for these two lines i have an error:
The tag: "html" doesn't have an attribute: "xmlns" in currently active versions.[HTML 4.0])

Any help?

See if this DOCTYPE will work for you, it will eliminate your errors.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

Hi JF0.
I can't tell now that i have less errors.
I have errors now errors like: The tag: TABLE does not conform to upper/lower case requirements.[XHTML 1.0 Strict,ColdFusion MX 7].

Is the Doctype you posted the best one?

Personally I use this one:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

You can learn more about the different doctypes here:
