Error during Windows install

Line 0 of dmreg.inf is corrupted. Setup cannot continue.

This is a brand new Lenovo laptop that had Windows 7. Trying to downgrade to Windows XP Pro.

get another install media , the disc is bad .

It might be possible that your laptop cannot be downgraded due to license or hardware restrictions  .
Have a look at the following link and then email lenovo with your model number to see if you are allowed to downgrade .
