Move user/machine FROM domain TO workgroup

Hi.
I have a user that is decomissioning their old Windows 2000 server.  The new machine will be a Windows 7 - NO DOMAIN!!

Is there an easy way or an easy tool that will migrate each user/client FROM the domain TO the workgroup WITHOUT having to lose the user profile settings (especially email!).  They are NOT using Exchange - just POP mail and only using a simple shared drive.

Thanks!

There may be a third party utility which will handle this (which would be close to a swing migration), but I am not aware of one.  There are no built in, native utilities which can perform this function.

just give it a try to USMT tool

iam not sure it will work  but you should give this a try :)
USMT doesn't have the ability to change from domain to workgroup, as far as I know.
Interesting.  I never would have considered it would be that easy.

Sorry about the last broken post....don't know what happened!

Any way, THE PROGRAM JUST WORKS!!!!  :)  :)  :)

I purchased the program just to support the company.  I **HIGHLY** recommend it to anyone who has to manage user profiles and moving from workgroups to domains, domains to workgroups, joining different domains, renaming users/profiles/workstations/etc.

Can you tell I'm a happy camper??  :)
