how to setup X environment in Solaris without logging into X session

I am troubleshooting a workstation problem on an old Solaris 8 box.  I need to run vncserver on the box but when I try to run it I get the error "xauth is not in your path".  I can create a local temporary user but if my memory is correct, the X files get created by solaris when you login to X window session for the first time.  If you login from ssh or telnet you don't get the required files (like xauth).

So, how do I create the X environment for a user without logging in to Xwindows and without copying from another user (I don't have access or permission to copy from user directories).

The xauth command is in /usr/openwin/bin directory

try this in your command line:

PATH=$PATH:/usr/openwin/bin; export PATH

if works, put it in your .profile
