Exchange SP2 :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4C4BD2A3-5E50-42B0-8BBB-2CC9AFE3216A&displaylang=en

or If you are reluctant to update to SP2 (which everyone would recommend)
you can install the update rollup 9
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=55320be2-c65c-48bb-bab8-6335aa7d008c&displaylang=en

that should fix this issue.

Hi,

Refer this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927612

I hope this helps,
Shree
You already have my article now for alittle explenation.

There was an issue caused prior to Rollup 9 for Exchange 2007 installing Rollup9 will fix this but there is no reason not to Install Service pack2 it's been around for long enough.

There was also a security update that caused a Kernel authentication issue and my article explains how to resolve this.

In short try method 1 and then 3 in my article.

Mutahir's solutions seems the most probable.I had the same type of problem at my company. My outlook kept asking for passwords and user's accounts were being locked out at the same time. I later found that we were infected by the conficker virus(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conficker). After our systems were cleaned the problem went away. The conficker virus basically tries to crack user passwords, and by doing so locks out their accounts.

To be fair to mutahir, the solution is in my article he posted in Comment ID: http:#29993505

However it's sometimes nice to have an explenation rather than just post a link which COULD be why Sujusree accepted my answer rather than mutahir's.

Demazter, thanks for your comment - Yes, the explanation was the 2nd Post in this article, as personally I have resolved this issue on to a number of my clients by installing just the exchange update rollup9 and once SP2 was out, it was either of them.

BTW, i have seen and can show you other posts from other Experts who just post a link and get the solution, so I just cannot understand why this is any different :

I posted your article so if the user wants to read the explanation. I then posted the update rollup suggestion.

As far as the explanation goes, I posted the article for that very reason and when we are answering the question the person who gets the point is who points towards the solution or provides the solution (which is what I have did here)

When you check the notes of updaterollup9 and sp2 they tell you what it fixes and enhances.

I Still think that I should have got the accepted solution.
>>I Still think that I should have got the accepted solution
I agree, and I thought I made that clear in my last post, apologies if that was not the case.

All I was saying is that you didn't actually provide a reason why this might be happening which is possibly why my post was selected as the solution.  Whilst a lot of times this is resolved simply by applying Rollup 9 we are also seeing an increasing number of times when it is resolved by the Kernel Mode authentication, which is cause by an SBS update in November.  This would happen even if Rollup 9 (or indeed SP2) was installed or not.
All I am saying is that on Experts-Exchange ; I have seen thousands of posts posting a LINK only a LINK and getting the points, I have seen people re-phrasing exactly the same thing and getting the points.

in this question :

I Have pointed the user to the SOLUTIONI have pointed the user to the Microsoft SP2 and UR9 Download LINK

On the level of learning thirst - the user can read through the release notes of the specific updates to see what its fix

In addition to that I supplied a link to an article on EE, so that the user can read explanation

I just did this to save space on here as when something is already writtin on EE, no point of pasting it again and again

Secondly and most importantly - its only a matter of a click for the user to get the Explanation through the EE Article.

I have seen people getting points by just posting ARTICLE LINKS and Nothing else.

To the Moderators :

I even remember a question in which "me and demazter" provided a solution, the user "Accepted" my solution and "Demazter's" as Assisted solution, "Demazter" then requested attention and was attended promptly and got the accepted solution - I had no problems with that as I read that demazter provided better explanation on that occasion but this is completely unacceptable.

Hello Mutahir and Demazter

There is nothing to argue in this. Actually i got the solution from the site posted by Dematzer. I for got that you have pointed the same to me. I was looking at the name of the person who had documented it. I am really sorry if i have missed something. If you want me to change the points to your name i can do that. I am really sorry for the Inconvenience caused.

Mutahir > did youvread either of my two posts?
I was agreeing that you first post should have been accepted as the answer!

I was merely trying to offer an explenation as to possibly why it wasn't.

Either way we are all in agreement that your very first post should be accepted as the answer.
Dear Mutahir

I can change the points awarded to demazter to you now itself.

Demazter, I wasn't arguing with you, I was trying to explain my point of view, and was generally explaining it to the mod

I just explained my views and am a regular blog visitor to demazter.wordpress.com , I wouldn't have been if I was not agreeing with you.

You didn't decided who gets the points so who am I to argue or to even explain it to you.

I apologize if you think that I did argue with you or if any of my words have made you felt that way.

Yes I read both of your posts and even said that in a previous question, as you provided the better explanation I didn't requested attention - Please don't think that I was arguing with you or anyone for that matter.

I raised this request attention few days ago and was just explaining why I think the accepted solution should be.

To the Question Asker : You have your reasons to select the answer and we were not arguing - I was trying to explain my views as to why my post should have been selected  - I apologize if you think that we were

Dear Mutahir

I  know that i have done wrong in selecting the person who has given the correct person who has given me the solution. So it is in my part i have done wrong. So i am ready to correct it myself.
I have asked the moderators to help me in making your answer as the accepted one.

Thanks & regards
