Exchange 2007: Updating address book

Hi Guys,

Recently I remove some users in AD who have left the company by disabling them and removing them from all groups and distribution list however, when I go into outlook I can still see them there. Is there anyway of when you remove the user they are automatically deleted from the address book instead of doing below.

1. On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, and then click Download Address Book.

2. In the Offline Address Book dialog box, make sure that the Download changes since last Send/Receive check box is checked.

3. Click OK.

Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

When you delete users, you will need to remove their exchange attributes (before rmeoving from groups etc), and then Purging the Exchange Server will rmeove the accounts permanently from the GAL.

in the exchange command line tool, you can issue this command:

get-ExchangeServer | select name,ProductID,*trial*

that will show you all exchange servers, name, product id, and if they're trial or not

what kind of license key is it... like how did you buy it?

you may be able to log into https://eopen.microsoft.com  if you have it registered there

so far, i haven't found any way to get the actual license keycode from the server, other than taking your productID and calling microsoft.  with that number and some basic info from you they'll either look it up, or give you a new one*

*while hard to believe, there are a few instances of people having done this, probably depends on your own social skills and who you get on the other end.  but, microsoft has to have a function to get you up and running after you've lost your keycode, talk to them about it.

i'll continue to look for a way, but i dont think the server stores it in a way where you can get it back, at least not without a special ms tool not publicly available.
