Shared Contacts for Microsoft Office Communiator 2007 R2
Hi,
we are about to go live with Office Communications Server 2007 R2 for our comms (using Office Communicator 2007 R2) as the client with Polycom OCS USB handsets).
I was hoping to create a shared address book / contacts that all clients can access for useful numbers but i can only get the Communicator client to look up numbers for the Outlook contacts folder not a contacts folder in e.g. Public Folders)
is there any way to create a shared address book?
thanks

ok - so i would have to set up all our suppliers / customers as active directory contacts
i doubt there is - but is there any way to sync a Public Folder Address book to active directory contacts?
thanks

thank-you for your help
its a silly limitation not to have a shared address book - hopefully they will address it in the next release

hi, i got it to work.
you have to wait till OCS sync with AD which happens overnight.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007\Server\Core\abserver. exe" -syncnow
forces an immediate update.
still - would be nice not to have to clog up my AD with 100's of contact's

OCS looks up data from Active Directory and outlook ccontacts, OCS doesn't have the funtionality of creating ABs like Exchange, to work around that you will create contacts as users in Active Directory, enable their numbers and their emails and users can search them
for example you want users to instead of dialing meetingroom 1 as 1111 to search it by its name, then create a user for it, enter the number and enable it for OCS
