I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Need to see more code.

Try removing the ;

xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest()
xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP")

Shouldn't this be javascript, not ASP?

Creating an XMLHttpRequest object is done with one single line of JavaScript:
In all modern browsers:
var xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest()
In older Microsoft browsers (IE 5 and 6):
var xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP")
