RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime

Environment:

- sbs 2008 w/ sp2
- oulook anywhere enabled
- Go Daddy ssl cert
- host file (192.168.1.2     server.domain.local)
- RPC Proxy Value (server:6001-6002;server.domain.local:6001-6002;wemail.domain.com and so....)
- can telnet internally and externally to the ports
- OWA works fine
- nslookup returns IPv4 and IPv6
- ping RPC fine
- using basic authentication
 
Utilized this test to get the same result every time no matter the changes: https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/Default.aspx

here is an example of the test:

Attempting to ping RPC Endpoint 6001 (Exchange Information Store) on server regattasbs.local
  Failed to ping Endpoint
   Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it
   Additional Details
  RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime

Just so you understand, This is a Small Business Server 2008 w/ SP2 and contains Exchange 2007 w/ SP2. It has all the roles.

None of these links you provided pertain to my situation. Please read the environment again.

Actually, I could not wait for recommedations from this post so I called Microsoft. Evidently, the solution was an authentication issue with the RPC with Cert site in IIS.

For whatever reason, basic authentication was not the only item checked which caused the problem.
