smtp 5.7.3 authinitication unsuccesfull

Hi,
I hope someone can help here,
I have a client that has a third party software application that they send emails through (software is an invoice/accountws related application).
it used to work fine,
but every time they try send email using it i get a pop screen on sbs 2003 server saying the following:

**smtp email-plugin error: check username and password 5.7.3 autentication unsuccesfull**

In the 3rd party app there is asection that asks for smtp server, username and password,
i have entered it as follows and im wondering if its correct?
smtpserver:  ATLANTIC.mydomain.local
username  myuser@mydomain.local
password password
Is this the correct way to enter settins for smtp authentication?
Thanks
Stephen

Try it Like this :

smtpserver:  NetBIOS Name of your server (IN this case it is Atlantic)
username  mydomain.local\User Name
password :password

That should be enough.

One more tip, In the smtpserver setting you can also input your Mail server IP address.
