Dragon Naturally Speaking - Unstable State

I have a user who's Dragon Naturally Speaking software is coming up with the following error:

"Voice Recognition Internal Recogniser error has occurred - Naturally Speaking may be in an unstable state - save work and restart program"

When restarted, the same error occurs. No system/software changes have taken place other than standard WSUS updates.
We cannot locate the installation CD at the moment, any ideas how to resolve the issue without needing to reinstall the software?

Cheer guys.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

"No system/software changes have taken place other than standard WSUS updates."

any recent update may change the state of related drivers that are used by this software so try using "Roll back driver" option on the driver"s properties>>Driver tab in device manager.

it may solve it :)

Unfortunately, that didn't work, however:

Deleting the NaturallySpeaking user data folder, and allowing the user to recreate their account did resolve the issue. Although the user now has to reconfigure all their learned speech etc, it's worked.

Cheers for your help though.

Hi, I realise the ship has sailed, but I saw your issue this morning. Notifications go to my work e-mail.

I don't know what version of Dragon you have, however, your first option is to try to restore from backup. That should be:
NaturallySpeaking >> Manage User >> Advanced >> Restore.

If you are using a professional version with lots of custom commands you can always copy the commands file out and export your custom words before deleting faulty user files.

Command file is: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking10\Users\Morris\current\MyCmds.dat .      (Morris is the name of my user files.)

Words may be exported only if Dragon can be started, even in an unstable state, from the Words Menu then Export.

Cheers for responding. We're using version 8 and version 9. This particular user is on version 9. I did attempt the restoration (sorry, should of put that at the start), but it still came up with the error.
Guessing it was something deeper in the users profile.
I'll make a note of the custom commands bit though for future reference.

Cheers again.
