HP T5545 Thin Client with USB printers

Hi,

i want to buy a HP T5545 This Client to put in my outsourcers warehouse to connect to a Windows XP box that is in my office. this i know will work over Remote Desktop.

I want to connect a USB printer to the T5545 (a Kyoerca FS-1030D or silimar) with two trays.

Will the remote PC be able to access the USB pritner though the T5545 thin client?

thanks

As long as:
1. The exact same drivers are installed on BOTH machines (thin client and Windows XP box).
2. You are running the latest RDP client on the thin client.

Not sure the OS on the thin client but to get this to work it is HIGHLY recommended it runs Windows XPe. Make sure you talk to the vendor to confirm AND to confirm you can indeed install the printer drivers required for such OS on it.

Claudio,

thanks for replying.

It runs Windows XP embeded so i should be able to install the same USB drivers as you would on a regular Windows XP desktop?

This will be my first XPe device so its all new to me

thanks

Assuming it has space free AND that you enable the writer filter to allow the install (documented on the thin client admin guide), yes, that is what you need to do.

thanks - i have done some more reading and the T5545 is not XPe - the following appear to:

HP t5730w Thin Client
HP t5630w Thin Client
HP t5740 Thin Client

but they are more price - almost basic PC territory - but I still may go this route as they will log straight into the remote desktop as opposed to having to log on locally then log onto the remote desktop

thanks
