The error you mention is very common. It is most often caused because of a problem in the way that SCCM deals with the memberof attribute in AD, any object that is not a member of any groups (other than the default groups e.g. domain computers or domain users) with generate that error.

Failure to discover objects could be for a number of reasons. Has the discovery worked previously? How frequently is AD polled for updated info?

Note you will be better to look for the newly discovered computer in the all systems collection.

Discovery always worked fine before. AD Polled updates every 15 minutes.

install switch is not correct.
You can just execute the ccmsetup.exe - But this requires that the client can find its assigned management point and server locator point
