one thing to note - when you push a remote agent out to a client it will automatically reboot the remote machine without any warning

log into the box, go to networking and then Port management. you can then limit the ports speed in there. this will apply to ALL network traffic, so downloading a big server from a file may take a while. i'm not sure there is a way to limit the download speed from the internet, if there is i'm not aware of it

yes tcp & udp, and also 8080 tcp & udp. you might also want to limit 21 tcp & udp (FTP) and port 110 if they use pop to download mail (insecure) or 995 for secure pop, or 993 or 465 if they use imap email

but thinking about it - that limit will be shared for all users on the inside of the firewall.

maybe try something like netlimiter - http://www.netlimiter.com/

will also let you keep a close eye on whats being downloaded if you were that way inclined

just been reading through the site and it runs over a network - http://www.netlimiter.com/img/scrshots/nl2shot_ntwmgr.png
so i would have thought it's centrally managed.

doesn't give you much info on how it works tho does it. someone here recommended it

this does do what you are after - http://www.net-peeker.com/Download.htm

i've just downloaded the trial and it works a treat. you need to push out remote agents to all pc's (requires domain admin password)  but then you can add them to a group and set the entire groups download speed limit
