Which history are you referring to? Backup record?

If you go to Backup Report, you'll notice this report is not very long because it is managed automatically. From my instance I can see this.

Don't forget that if you are using local control file for your backups if you use RMAN, then the control_file_record_keep_time parameter value has a measure of control over this history.

Why do you feel the need to delete this history?

We are decommissioning this instance and would like to delete the backup history.

If you decommission the instance, the database console and the history also goes. Are you talking about EM Grid Control?

If its in the EM Grid control delete the decommisioned system and it should disaper from EM.

If its still apears due to access to a backup repository unregister it in the backup repository and that should be it.
