You could also try the following:<br />

Right-Click your Internet Explorer icon, and choose 'internet properties'. Then click on the 'Advanced' tab at the top, and click the 'Reset...' button at the bottom of the window. Then click 'OK', let it finish, and then close IE, and then re-open it. <br />

It should work fine.

I have a user who had some trojan.bho's on her laptop. I removed the infections but now IE wont download software (Active X is broken). I have tried everything. I downloaded a tool called dial a fix and it tries to repair IE. At the end of the repair it gives an error that says <br />

Error in iesetup.dll<br />
Missing Entry: IEAccessSysInst<br />
