Micirsoft Fax stops working after logging out

When we log out of our Server 03 machine, faxes stop flowing. If the system if locked, they still work. It is not until we log back in and open up the fax console that faxes start working again. The fax console must be re-opened after logging back in for the faxes to start working. We have re-installed the fax service several times with the same results. Any ideas are appreciated.

Is the fax service running as the account you are logging in with?

No.  We had thought that as well and everything has been checked over in regards to it.  Thanks for the comment though!

We have opened up a ticket with Microsoft Support.  I will post what the resolution is when I get one for future reference to the community.  This one has stumped us for a month now and the client heavily relies on faxing to do their bids for jobs.

Turned out that it was the new modem that we had installed.  Apparently, it's a Win Modem and according to Microsoft support, they're not designed for servers and usually must have a user logged in to accept an incoming fax.  Though we thought we had ruled out hardware and I remember taking out the USB modem that was in there, we must not have disabled the internal modem which was the Win Modem.

So, for future reference, if you want to install a new modem into a server, make sure it's NOT a Win Modem and you should be fine!
