Microsoft Outlook and live@edu

Hello,
I am researching Microsoft's live@edu and I want to use Microsoft Outlook with it. I have been told that I can use Outlook Anywhere with this service but I can't figure out how. The reason I want to do this other than with IMAP is that I can to keep my email, address books, calendars, and tasks updated with this site. is this really possible or do I have to use IMAP?

Thanks,
John

You will need to Install Outlook Connector  which will configure the account for you. It uses MAPI instead of MAPI or POP.

Download Outlook Connector From here : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9A2279B1-DF0A-46E1-AA93-7D4870871ECF&displaylang=en

Then go to outlook and configure you account via Account Settings.

Hello,
I will check this out, but I need clarification on what you said. You said that it uses MAPI instaed of MAPI or POP. Did you mean to say that it uses MAPI instead of IMAP or POP?

Also, if I use this connector can I access more than one account by creating different profiles?

Thank you,
John

It looks like you have to first create an Outlook profile and then load the Outlook connector. When you open up Outlook you now have two message stores. I don't like that. Isn't there a better way to connect to Live @edu with Outlook? I prefer to use MAPI since it allows me to use the calendars, contacts, and tasks. There seems to be too many steps to use Outlook. I am not sure the best way to setup a workstation to use multiple Outlook profiles and live @edu.

Why would you even need multiple profiles. To access Outlook you would anyway need to create a profile. And once the profile is created, you can install Outlook Connector. Once Outlook Connector is installed you can use the Add account to add one or multiple email accounts to the same profile.

On the download page itself, You can read having multiple accounts in the same place. Please do read the documentation when you download the outlook connector.
