c:\boot\bcd can not be read in Vista

I couldn't boot up vista i was getting error C:\windows\system32\winload.exe couldn't be found.  I got that fixed and i finally got it booted but I get c:\boot\bcd can not be read.  Any idea how to fix this?

Put your Windows installation disc into your drive and boot the computer. The disc has an option to repair your Windows installation.
If the Startup repair option of the Vista DVD cannot repair the problem, there is a rebuild BCD option referenced by this page which might do it instead:

Sounds like the hard drive is failing. I would clone it to replacement drive. I would not attempt any other diagnostics or repairs till that is done.
