Exceute button in SSRS 2005 QUERY BUILDER

Hi Experts,
IN SSRS 2005(BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPMENT STUDIO), in the query builder ,the execute button is disabled(greyed out). So , I am unable to exeute and test the sql queries from the SSRS. So could you please find the solution and walk me through the steps of how to  enable the execute button in the query builder of SSRS 2005.

Regards,
Sreekanth.

This is interesting!
Usually when you click the button for the query to run, it will be grayed out while the query is running.
Could it be that you clicked it by mistake and your query is running in the background?

Something is definitely not right and here's a quick fix for it:
If this is not the case, i suggest that you copy the SQL query out, leave a comment (like "-- this is my comment") in the query window, save, close the development studio, re-open development studio after and paste the query back, then save.

This time round the execute button should be active.

I believe it is context sensitve, so make sure you cursor/focus is in the query window and not somewere else.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the immediate reply . I have tried what you have mentioned above, but no luck.
Execute button in Query Designer  is always greyed out  and I don't have a clue what needs to be done.
Please suggest me the solution.

Regards,

Sreekanth.

Hi CGLutrell,

I have ensured  that the cursor/focus is in  the query window and not somewere else. It behaves  the same for all the reports(more than 100 reports) in the reporting project. I mean the execute button in the query designer is disabled for all the reports

I am sorry, I have gone back to a 2005 instance and can not get it to reproduce that condition so I am not sure what could be causing it.  Maybe someone else has run into it and knows from experience what causes it.
Good luck.
