outlook reminders office 2007 not working

I have a user who says his outlook reminders are not showing up and not tripping on before a meeting. He sees no reminder. This is office 2007 and running on windows XP pro.

On the Tools Menu, Click Options, in the calender group,select or the the default reminder check box. If you select the check box, enter the amount of time before the app. or meeting when you want the reminder to appear.

Make sure the following steps are enabled correctly.

step 1: In your Outlook GoTo > Tools > Options window "Preferences" tab, under Calender section check the "Default Reminder"

also, click "Calendar Options" button, In the popup window> calendar options> check "show click to add prompts on the calendar".  Click Ok leave the pop up.

Step 2: In the main options window> GoTo "Other" tab >> Advanced Options >> In child window click "Reminder Options" >> Click the check box "Display the reminder".
