Do I need to install SQL Server 2005 SP3 on both cluster nodes

Dear all experts,

I just install SQL Server 2005 cluster (Active /Passive) in my environment.  Just wonder do I need to install SP3 on both nodes or it will help me to apply SP3 on both nodes automatically?  As I remember that in earlier version of SQL Server, I've to install service pack on both nodes.  But now when I type select @@version on both nodes, it both returns 9.00.4035.00 (X64).

Please kindly advise

You may start the SQL Server 2005 (& 2008) Service Packs update once and the clustered components (Database Engine, Analysis Services) on all nodes will be updated. But you must start the Service Pack installation on each node in order to update non cluster aware components (Reporting Services, Workstation Components, SSIS).

Hi RiteshShah,

Thanks for your quick response.  When I install SP3 on the other nodes, it just highlight reporting service for me to update, the rest of component (like database, native client, xml, etc...) were not selected.  Do I still go ahead for the installation or simply select all then start the installation?

Thanks,

you don't need to select everything, whatever is there, just select and update as said in above response too.
