Windows 2008 and Accpac Plus

Currently we have local and remote users accessing accpac dos through the network and terminal services. Using windows 2000 Servers.

We are upgrading to windows 2008 Server with Hyper V but accpac dos does not work on 64 bit OS.

How can we setup Accpac dos to run using Virtual machines? should we load Accpac and terminal services on a virtual machine with windows 2003 loaded?

Any help in pointing us in the right direction would be appreciated.

You can add a Virtual Machine with any OS that is supported by Accapas that is the great thing about Hyper-v and virtualization is that you can install any Guest in a VM without having to worry about application being not compatiable.

You must think about VMs as they were physical installs it doesn't matter to the application that it is virtual or a physical install so you would setup exactly the same.

Thanks for the input . I understand how to implement the virtual machine just not sure about how picking accpac is going to be about where it resides. I already have Window 2008 installed and terminal services on a 2008 virtual machine but was hoping not to have to delete that virtual machine and create a new term serv virtual machine with 2003 on it.

Simplify Active Directory Administration

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

Have you installed Accpac on the TS 2008 server then tested the solution? Have you call accpac to see if this is a supported solution for your verison?

If the software doesn't support 2008 then you would need to build a 2003 TS server.

I have tested and it does not run on 64bit version. It is an outdata dos program so every windows upgrade version is an adventure. It is not supported on 64bit but I haven't found anything that says it is not supported on a 32 bit version of 2008.

Then give it a shot that is the only way you are going to find out. I did have some issues with a DOS program that was 16-bit on a Windows 2008 machine but that was one out of 5.

I installed a 32bit virtual machine on the 2008 64 server and it works like a charm. I am going to do more testing though because I am not convinced that it won't work on a 64bit os yet.

Thanks for your help
