Cisco 7941 Can not change admin VLAN

I have a used Cisco 7941 that I was planning to change to SIP phone with the Cisco sip firware.  I have done this quite a few times before but have not had this much trouble.  The phone was connected to a Cisco CAll Manager which I have no access to anymore.  When I boot the phone I can see the DHCP request traffic and I see the DHCP server respond but the phone does seem to see the packets...  However the phone is still thinking it is connecting to CDP awarea device and it is wrapping the packets in a 802.1q tag as if it is still "trunking".  I dont have access to a managed switch and I need to turn off the Admin Vlan but when I go to Settings, Network Config I can view the admin vlan but cant edit even if I put in the unlock sequence.  I factory reset the phone and now when it boots all if get the "Upgrading" screen and it is still adding the 802.1q info to the frames...  How can I turn this admin vlan off?

ANSWER: USE SCCP MODULE, screw the sip image crap on 7941s
