passing var to cfdocument crashes

I have a pdf being generated by <CFDOCUMENT>. Dynamic content coming from queries is all good. However I have need to pass special information to the form during runtime and not store in a database. Passing this as form data caused the generation of the PDF to crash with an unexplained error.
Ideas?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

works just fine for me

Clear your cache and perhaps restart the cf service. Sometimes a bad pdf can prevent new ones from being created.
