Opening A File That Names Changes Daily

I am attempting to place a link in an Operations News Letter to an Excel file that's name changes daily. Rather than having to change the link every day, is there a "wild" character that can be used to open this Excel file no matter the name? It's the only Excel file in this directory.

not sure how to link with a wildcard but you can rename hte file using a wildcard.

for example, whenever the file is changed create a .bat file and schedule it to run shortly thereafter.

.bat file would look something like:

rename c:\docs\*.xls link.xls

this will rename the file to "link"

if you cannot rename it for other reasons then first do a copy to anotrher directory, then the rename and set your link to the new directory.

Okay. The file name is "filename_mmddyyyy.xls". In the script rather than rename it what would be the Office scripting to save another copy, say as "filename.xls", that would overwrite itself each day? We need to keep the dates on these files for archiving purposes.

I didn't read the message carefully enough. That would be a good solution. Thanks
