Can the Sun Storage 7410 be backed up by Symantec Backup Exec 2010 via NDMP?

I am running Symantec Backup Exec 2010 on a Windows 2008 R2 server.  I am trying to back up our Sun Storage 7410 storage array to tape via this software.  I have already successfully configured a much older EMC Celerra storage device to be backed up via NDMP but now I need our Sun Storage 7410 device to be backed up as well.  When I try to add the device as an NDMP device, the software is reports that "The Requested operation is not supported."  I am trying to authenticate the backup server using the root account.  We have purchased 2 NDMP licenses for Symantec Backup Exec to make this possible.  I would like to be able to back up our Sun Storage device via NDMP using Symantec Backup Exec and a tape robot.  Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I found a lot of references online about how the 7410's NDMP implementation is buggy, incomplete, and incompatible with various software products.  It also locks up and is slow even if it does sorta work. Make sure you have latest sun firmware, but be prepared for it to just not work.  If you have a support contract with Sun and/or symantec, log calls with them.  Maybe they have a fix.

Page 57 in the HCL (ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/Backup_Exec_for_WindowsNT/329256.pdf) shows that only IBM, EMC and NetApp boxes are compatible with the NDMP option.
That's why you cannot add the your Sun Storage.
