I am running Symantec Backup Exec 2010 on a Windows 2008 R2 server. &nbsp;I am trying to back up our Sun Storage 7410 storage array to tape via this software. &nbsp;I have already successfully configured a much older EMC Celerra storage device to be backed up via NDMP but now I need our Sun Storage 7410 device to be backed up as well. &nbsp;When I try to add the device as an NDMP device, the software is reports that &quot;The Requested operation is not supported.&quot; &nbsp;I am trying to authenticate the backup server using the root account. &nbsp;We have purchased 2 NDMP licenses for Symantec Backup Exec to make this possible. &nbsp;I would like to be able to back up our Sun Storage device via NDMP using Symantec Backup Exec and a tape robot. &nbsp;Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Can the Sun Storage 7410 be backed up by Symantec Backup Exec 2010 via NDMP?

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud). "Restore" in turn means the methods and processes involved in data recovery, i. e., bringing back copied computer data to their original location. Backup/Restore primarily serves as a means of protection against data loss, be it due to disaster, corruption or sabotage. In addition to local storage devices like CD and DVD readers, hard drives and flash drives, solid state drives can hold enormous amounts of data in a very small device. Cloud services and other new forms of remote storage also add to the capacity of devices and their ability to access more data without building additional data storage into a device.
